Looking back at the first six months ...

I was thinking about writing "the last six months" on the title, but that would imply there's a past tense when talking about the marriage between the beautiful and intelligent ... Jason Bryant and his wife Abby.

Gotcha on that one, didn't I?

Ok, in all seriousness, I can't believe it's been six months since our nuptials. There only has been one bad part about the whole marriage thing and that's been the distance. Abby's got a stellar job but it keeps her on the road during the week. We're weekend warriors in nearly every sense of the word.

It's going to be a test of our mettle this season, since I'm now a year into my job in Colorado Springs and I've really been hitting my stride with things in the wrestling world. What I don't want is the busy weekends to take away from the limited time we have together.

We're both strong-willed people. Actually, she's strong-willed, I'm stubborn. I think I might get that trait from my dad. Anyway, rambling aside, we're making it work and making it work well. We still have the issues with our houses on the market. I had a showing earlier this week and I have to stress to my agent that ALL serious offers will be considered. It's like putting up a note with paint on an old beat up car that says "$1000 OBO."

I'm not about to sell the place for a grand, but as much as I loved living in Pennsylvania, I'll never go back and trying to manage a place (with bad renters) two time zones away is a pain.

I've been doing more cooking, so Abby has had the pleasure of chowing down on some new creations. Some are of the dinner fare, while others have been featured in the dessert aisle.

I made my first pumpkin pie ... and the part we didn't eat (not because we didn't want to, we were just full) made a killer milkshake. If you've had a DQ Pumpkin Pie Blizzard ... yeah, it's like that.

I like the idea of cooking, and doing it well. It makes our dinners that much more worthwhile. Going out to eat is great, fine dining is fun, but something about a solid Chicken Cordon Bleu made at home and tasting every bit as good as a $20 meal at a high-end restaurant is satisfying.

We're heading to Virginia this weekend for the first time as a married couple. I commented to Abby tonight while we were on the phone (we're on the phone ... a LOT) that it would be the first time I step on the ODU campus with a wedding ring on.

I went to ODU for seven years. During that time, I thought I'd be an eternal bachelor. Thankfully I was wrong there. We're going to the football game on Saturday. We went to ODU's first-ever game last year and this will be our second game, they're playing VMI.

It'll be good to go home and see family and friends for the first time in like 6-7 months.

We're planning our Turkey Day in Minnesota, Christmas in Minny, extended holiday in Virginia and a day in NYC before going to my buddy Nate's wedding on New Year's Eve in New Jersey.

Now that I've been at my job a year, I get a second vacation week, to which we will be putting to FULL use this year.

WOOT.

JB out.
